OUR Garden trip to Ashwoods the other year
23 members turned up on the rearranged date in July for our guided tour of Hartlebury Castle Gardens, which had been Postponed due to dangerously high temperatures a few weeks earlier
The weather was kind, warm but not unpleasantly so, and we were shown around the ground by two of the garden volunteers, Jane and Vicky, who each took a separate group with them on the journey and they both made use of historical photos to illustrate their walk
Everyone agreed that they were excellent guides with a lovely mixture integrating the history of the castle and its previous Bishop incumbents with the development over centuries of the grounds of the castle
What they and the other volunteers have achieved over the last seven or eight years is remarkable although there is still much to be done
We all ended up in the tea room afterwards for a welcome cake and cuppa and it was particularly nice to welcome some of our new members on the trip
